Measure your space

Confirm that packaged equipment can reach its destination and that assembled equipment has safe operating clearance.

What you need

A tape or laser measure, the packaged and assembled product dimensions, a route sketch, and the OEM clearance requirements.

Measure the route

1. Record the narrowest width and lowest height at the curb, loading area, doors, gates, halls, and final room.
2. Measure stair width, landings, ceiling height above stairs, and handrail obstructions.
3. Measure elevator door, cab, and rated load; confirm booking and protection rules.
4. Sketch every turn and record the available turning area.
5. Identify slopes, soft ground, thresholds, floor transitions, and surface protection.
6. Compare every opening with packaged dimensions and the handling orientation allowed by the manufacturer.
7. Measure final operating, service, ventilation, and emergency-clearance space.

Important

A doorway wider than the product is not enough when a carton must turn immediately before or after it. Plan for packaging, handling equipment, and hands around the load.

Record the results in the measurement worksheet. If any fit depends on removing product parts, get written manufacturer or installer guidance before ordering.
